Crochet Workshop at Community Gardens...

Another wonderful experience teaching my craft to some amazing gals. This time we held the workshop at Community Gardens thanks to Autumn Pyka. It went so well and felt so organic. Not only am I teaching but I'm making life long connections with people here in my town and that feels amazing. Here's some images that my good friend Taylor (another Taylor) managed to snap for me. I've said it before but I'm so blessed to have such supportive friends.

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little "behind the scene" action from my events. I'm super excited about the next one coming up on August 27th at Community Gardens. I will be teaching basic Granny-Squares. My fav!!! Just in time for spooky season as well.

Soft opening for my upcoming workshop...

This last weekend I hosted a workshop with some close gal pals at my humble home in Bastrop.
It was sort of a practice round for me because its been nearly 7 years since my last workshop in Austin. I was super excited and anxious. We fixed up the house as much as possible (see our home reno) until we ran out of time. We bought some new furniture, threw on a coat of fresh paint and made some tasty treats and bought some sips. I even made gift/swag bags for the girls. I wanted everyone to feel special.

We went over how to hold the hook and yarn. Basic stitches such as chaining (ch), single crochet (sc) and (hdc) half double crochet. That in itself took awhile... Next, we moved onto "the magic circle" which is pretty complex for a first lesson.

My beautiful friends hard at work.

Deep into their groove...

My friend Mary came to help support and teach.

Later things got super casual and silly...

Thank you to all my friends for coming and supporting me. I truly am blessed.

Starting over after baby....

It's been about 6 years since I last posted. Within those years a lot has happened... I moved from the
bustling city of Austin to the quiet, cozy small town of Bastrop. I had my first child, Arlo Hart and became a stay at home mom (STAHM). Covid happened and our family had to pivot. My husband took a different job that let him stay close to home. I gave birth to my daughter, Birdie Maxwell during that time. Everything was scary. I put my crochet work on the back burner to give my attention to my 2 littles. Trump was elected and I chose to vanish from social media all together. I deleted my website, blog, facebook account and decided to enjoy life as it came naturally. Over the years I slowly came out of hiding and re-opened my blog. I still try to remain off of facebook for my mental health but do enjoy blogging, Instagram and Pinterest. I have started designing again and have saved many delightful patterns that I can't wait to share with the world. Starting over is hard and can seem impossible. Somedays I get nothing done for my biz and somedays are super productive. Usually I don't get much accomplished and that's okay. Just here to share some of the highs and lows of owning a small business while trying to be a full time mommy as well.

So I'm throwing myself a little party....

I'm so excited to finally be able to celebrate the release of my very first craft book
"Crochet Taxidermy, 30 Quirky Patterns from Mouse to Moose" at the Paper + Craft Pantry hosted by my dear friend Pei Sim. Sip on Mimosa's while you browse my new DIY crochet kits, new crochet taxidermy designs and of course my book, all of which will be available to purchase. I hope to see you all there!

Behind the scene photoshoot....

Lately I've been hard at work crocheting my little heart out in preparation for a HUGE upcoming photoshoot. I have over 50 taxi head designs that needed to be made in various colors, mounted and photographed for my re-branding that is currently taking place by my gal pal Lauren Cooke of
Little Skunk Co. Most of the design we are keeping under wraps until mid September when I have a book and launch party! More on that later.... As you can see the new backdrop is a white washed wood. Nothing but a Pigeon is getting a lighter more modern/minimalistic feel. I'm super excited and can't wait to share all our hard work with the world! In the meantime I thought it would be fun to share a little behind the scene action with ya'll.

This is just a few of the critters that made an appearance at the studio The Paper + Craft Pantry.

Detail shots....

A lot of the taxi heads I made multiple's of in different colors as examples. It made for a huge amount of work but I feel it will be so worth it in the end.

The photoshoot lasted a little over 3 days and there's still more work that needs to be done. Some little critters didn't make the cut so I have to go back and re-work them and try to capture a better image of them later on down the road.

Here's some popular critter combinations....

That's about all I can share with the world as of right now. The book/launch party will take place Sunday September 18th at The Paper + Craft Pantry. I will be featuring/selling my new book as well as the new crochet DIY kits that I've designed. We will be showing off my new logo and website and even have swag bags full of goodies. There will be some sips and eats as well, basically I just want to celebrate all my hard work over the last year with some good friends and enjoy life for a bit before I dive into the Holiday madness. Hope you all enjoyed this little sneaky peeky.
