new designs and talking bout' kits....

Hi there! It's been awhile but I'm still alive. Ha ha! I've actually been hard at work on other ventures for my little crochet company Nothing but a Pigeon. Now that all the hard work for my upcoming book has cooled down, which by the way is available to pre-order on Amazon right here... I've been able to design and create new and oh so adorable sea creatures. I feel like it's been years since I've been able to have time to myself to be creative and I'm loving every moment of it. I've managed to make three successful designs for some cool little amigurumi kits that I'm planning on introducing to my shop and the world this Fall. Squeee!

It's actually really hard as well as time consuming to come up with patterns and test them out as you're writing them down/typing them out. You run into a lot of mistakes and bumps in the road along the way... but I can't tell you how excited I am to offer kits. There's only so many faux taxidermy heads I can make on my own until my hands and thumbs feel like they are bout' to drop off. This makes it possible for me to sell the "how to kits" on a lower price scale (which people will love) and spares my delicate little money makers... aka hands! I can order supplies in bulk and assemble them in my studio and sell them online, in stores and at craft fairs. They are super gift-able and are way more affordable. I've insisted the help of a friend Lauren Cooke of Little Skunk Co. (whom is super talented) to re-vamp my whole brand (which is in the works as we speak) and also to design my kits/labels as well as logo. Basically Nothing but a Pigeon is getting a full overhaul or makeover.

Lauren does amazing work and has made two gorgeous felted signs for my shop in the past so she knows my taste and what I like. I've already seen my new Logo but we both decided to wait to share it with the world till everything is closer to being finished but it looks amazing!

I'll be offering this Baby Octopus pattern in one of my kits along with the Baby Sea Turtle and Crabby pattern. The sea creatures have always been my best sellers and they are super wee and are easy enough for beginners - intermediate crocheters to get.

If you've following along on IG I've been creating some adorable little video's with my new creations. It's been fun being able to play around with ideas and experiment with new creatures. I still want to design and create a few more nautical guys like a sea horse and maybe a lobster and then I think I'll move onto garden bugs. I've got some fun designs already a brewing in my head. More on that later....

This little guy is a Dumbo Octopus. I'm not sure if he's cute enough to make the cut for one of my kits but we'll see...

These are some baby cacti plants that I was considering offering but the other sea creatures were just too cute to not use. I'm thinking pattern design may be more in my future. I'd love to offer all sorts of PDF patterns on Etsy and on Ravelry etc...

I've decided to pass up all Spring Shows to have some down time to create and make so you won't be seeing me at The Renegade or Pop Shop Houston this Season. Come Fall I hope to be able to offer kits and my book and will also be starting to teach workshops and I'm pretty excited about that! That's about it on the creative side of life. I'd love to hear suggestions or feedback on these kits. What would you all like to see offered as a DIY amigurumi kit?
xoxo
