Blog of the month "writes like a girl"

Happy Monday my little lovelies! It's Blog of the Month time!!! Yay! This Month I'm introducing a local Austinite Nicole of "writes like a girl". I just adore Nicole's blog... not just because she loves fashion just as much as I do but also because she writes with such passion... which a lot of us bloggers don't really do all that much. Nicole touches on a lot of worldly issues... one in particular being women's rights. I totally agree with Nicole on pretty much all her political views and admire her ability to voice her opinion. Just last year she was rallying for the reproductive rights of women at the State Capitol. To be a part of something "that big" and "that important" is amazing to me. Read more about her time at the State Capitol here.

I also adore Nicole's "Small Goal" posts that she writes every Month. I love that she sets little challenges for herself (which I think everyone should do) for each Month... which include such things as: reading certain books, tackling her diet and exercise routine, getting outdoors more etc.... check out  Nicole's June goals here.

My absolute favorite posts are the ones where Nicole tackles self confidence and body issues that we all face. I was really interested to read letters that other bloggers had written to themselves... addressing specific parts of their bodies. Don't quite understand what I mean? Well read this love letter that Becca of Along For The Ride writes to her buns, hips and thighs here.

These are just a few reasons why I enjoy Nicole's blog so much... did I mention she has the cutest style as well? I have peppered images of Nicole's 30x30 style challenge throughout this post. Adorable right? I hope Nicole's blog inspires others as much as it has inspired me. If you haven't hear of Nicole's lovely blog "writes like a girl" you should hop on over and check it out for yourself... you won't regret reading it! Also... don't forget to follow Nicole on the links listed below.

Instagram lately...

It's been an awesome June so far! I'm livin' life to the fullest here in Austin with my beloved Husbear and Co. We take frequent trips to "Callahan's" to buy straw and feed for our little feathered babies.

Here's the three youngest... they have actually grown quite a lot since
this photo taken in May.

We are so blessed to have these little crazy babies as we get little presents from them.
Three a day!

These little ones are super friendly and will come right on up to you to say "Hi."

I took a little kayak trip with my BFF Christopher in May.

I've also been more active in other ways this year...
jogging and lifting weights. I'm determined to get in shape again!

Austin never fails me... I am surrounded by wildflowers on my daily jog.

My style has evolved a lot since last year. I finally feel like "I'm coming into my own"... as they say. I'm learning to love my body and accept it and appreciate it.

I've never loved the nautical look more than I love it now.

I've become just a little more "daring" in my outfit
choices and  how I style my looks.

A little bit bolder....

I've also been busting my hump to make my little business "Nothing but a Pigeon" known.

I'm doing more shows, filling more orders and selling in more stores
including Houston now!

I've also been writing down my patterns in hopes of finally publishing
a book that I've always dreamed about.

I'll also be attending Austin Craft Riot's Summer Show soon to take place in Mid August.

I traded a little Jellyfish with the beautiful and talented Kelsey Delange
of Honey and the Hive for these three beautiful prints that I still have
yet to frame and hang in our home.

We've also been making more improvements on our beautiful
home and decorating it more to our taste. We purchased these whimsical
tin bugs for our screened in porch.

Speaking of our home.... our Garden has exploded!
We have tomatoes as far as the eye can see... not to mention green beans,
squash and zucchini. Even black berries!

I've also been blogging a lot... not only here but on Flock Together
and at Pop Shop Houston.

I also took a trip up to Ohio for a dear old friends wedding.

I stayed with my family and ate at some yummy new local
eateries that my sweet sister introduced me to.

Her new Husbear Brian cooked us an scrumptious breakfast
and we all hung out and relaxed. In total I spent a full week in Ohio
 with friends and family.

I had a great time but was happy to come home to my sweet Husband
and my fur children Sophie (pictured here) and Lucy.

Now it's back to the daily grind... jogging and filling orders for my shop. It's been a couple of busy months but I haven't been happier. I'm so blessed and have a wonderful little life here in Austin.

Bright and bold

Happy Monday! This weekend has been super duper busy for me but a very productive one as well. I've had a bunch of orders to fill and ship out plus re-stocking all my stores too! I also took the weekend to stain two batches of plaques (which have been taking extra long to dry due to the humidity). I've also been trying to edit the wedding images on the side! Sheesh.... I feel like I've hardly had time to relax and hang out with The Mister. Life is good though.... I can't complain too much.

I've had this dress sitting in my closet since last year and I'd only worn it once. I bought it last Summer at Old Navy... wore it to Fredricksburg and put it away right when I got back because I didn't like the way I looked in my pictures that Matt had taken. I was 10lbs heavier last Summer and was feeling awful back then... so I thought I would give it another go. I was pleasantly surprised that the dress was a tad looser and fit me much better in the waist. I also styled it much nicer than before so I was happy about that as well.

I love head scarves (as if you didn't know) so decided to throw on a bright and colorful one to "spruce it up" a bit. I'm loving this little "sock bun" contraption that I've been using lately. It makes my hair seem bigger and fuller... which is never a bad thing. (Did you spot Sophie?)

I finished off my look with an orange lip. I love experimenting with lip color and makeup now! I fell in love with this cheap little lipstick by "wet & wild". Who knew that orange would be such a flattering color on me? Ha!

This black mini shrug is my "go to" top for most of my dresses. I'm still not comfortable yet with baring my arms. Even though I work out and lift weights on a regular basis... I'm just not ready yet.

I'm back to jogging every other day and doing the "20 minute shred" on the off days. I've also been restricting my caloric intake a bunch which sadly leaves me hungry and tired... but I'm determined to get back to where I was 3 years ago! I'm just happy that I even feel well enough to do the normal, everyday activities that I couldn't back when I was sick. It's such a relief!

I'm going to spend this Summer improving myself on the inside as well as the outside. I want to read all the books that I have put off over the last few years and finish all the projects that haven't been completed and I am dead set on enjoying every single minute of it. Cheers to life!
