Etsy Dallas spring bash

Hey there kittens! As you may or may not know, I'm headed to Dallas this weekend for a very fun show hosted by Etsy. I'll be traveling with some close crafty and very talented lady friends. I'm really looking forward to meeting new and interesting makers and chatting it up with old friendly faces. Here's a look at what I've been up to as well as my very messy studio located on the eastside of Austin. Enjoy!

I hope you will all follow along via Instagram @nothingbutapigeon to see behind the scene photos of my Spring Bash adventures. You can also see more images by serching #2015SpringBash.

I'll be traveling with Bri of The Good Hippie, Becky of The Pink Samurai and last but not least,
Lauren of Little Skunk Co.

Market at Georgetown

Hi there kitten's! Is it Monday already? This weekend flew by so fast... I barely knew what hit me.
I'm switching things up a bit with a fun travel/crafty post. It's a nice break from all those Spring flower, fashion posts. The weekend before last Le Husband and I visited my dear friend Anna in Georgetown, Texas. Anna just moved into a new and first house her and her Husband have owned so I was pretty excited for her and to actually get to see it. For those of you that aren't from Texas, Georgetown is only about 45 minutes away. It's an easy drive for a day trip and has a lot of cool country chic boutiques. It's also home of "The Blue Hole"... which I adore. The Blue Hole is the Mister and my favorite watering hole to visit in the Summer besides Barton Springs.

While we were in Georgetown checking out Anna's new pad, we went out to grab some lunch and then took a stroll through the downtown area and stumbled upon this cute little market. As you all may know I'm a sucker for a good market. The first booth I walked into was Polka Dots and Pickles by Karen Trice. I was drawn in by all the fun bright, colors and adorable crafts. Check out her fun pin cushions!

I then spotted these bright Treat Jars.

Then, I settled on some Star Wars clay magnets for the Mister. They are proudly on display in our kitchen as we speak.

Moving along I spotted a fabulous mobile fashion boutique called "Therapie". I so wanted to buy a few of these beautiful candles for our home.

Inside I found some boho chic vintage jewelry...

I do love these rings!

Next, we stopped in a Antique store "Hands of Time". I love just walking around and "taking in" all the trinkets and bobbles from the past. There's something about antique stores that I can't get enough of... I think it's all the stories behind the pieces that thrills me. There are so many memories attached to all the items and relics.

These porcelain dogs are the best!

Vintage clothes and hats....

and vintage glass ware....

Did I mention that my Anna is 6 months pregnant with her first baby?! How adorable is she... I could just die.

We were actually trying to be slick and capture an image of this guy behind us proudly carrying around his trophy (a taxidermy deer head) that I assume he shot and killed himself. Only in Georgetown. Errr, or in any small town I suppose. We didn't manage to get a good shot of him but instead a lovely picture of Anna and I.

I went in for a closer look and snapped this delightful shot as we were walking by.
Don't mind me.....

This was a fun shop that we all got sucked into. Anything that has to do with whimsical garden decorations and I'm there! It was pretty country chic... which isn't my thing but I still wanted to buy everything.

Vintage inspired dish towels....

Faux succulents as far as the eye could see.... Later on The Mister came upon a hot sauce shop that literally only sold hot sauce and spicy salsa. He spent a good 20 minutes in there tasting different things until he settled on a ghost pepper hot sauce. It was his dream come true... which is fine because Anna and I dragged him around the market looking at baby garb and girlie stuff. Ha! It was a really nice weekend even though it was over cast outside. I did end up purchasing a cute little boho chic dress which will most likely make an appearance in an upcoming post. All in all it was a very fun day. I was super excited to see Anna's new home (which was amazing btw) and to spend time with my pregnant friend and to see her stomach change is fascinating to me. It seems like only yesterday she was 17 and we were working at Cord Camera together. My how time flies....

Natural in Neutral... part 11

TGIF! I'm so looking forward to a weekend with Le Husband and enjoying some wonderful weather.
I have a few unexpected house guests right now. No, really! I'm watching my BFF's two dogs for him while he's away on a mini vacation with his boyfriend. It wasn't too unexpected. Nothing I can't handle. Are you ready for round two of my amazing photo shoot with the Mister? There were just so many good ones it was almost impossible to narrow them down. Here they are in all their glory....

I'm embracing the messy hair look quite well, wouldn't you agree? It looks like I just had a little romp in the sheets. Ha! I do love some good ol' sexy bedroom hair don't you? Hope everyone had a productive work week and are really for some relaxation time. I'll be busy getting ready for my big show with Etsy in Dallas. I'll be taking a little road trip with some very talented, crafty lady friends in the beginning of May. More on that later. Have a great weekend kittens!

Floral dress & ombre' hair

Hi there kittens! Is it Monday already?! This is an older photo shoot that I never got around to publishing but I thought it would be a great way to break up all those flower images that I've been posting lately. I don't want to beat people over the head with gorgeous wildflower images. That would just be plain rude. Ha! This awesome little dress I snagged at Buffalo Exchange in the Winter time but it was a small and I could not yet fit into it... so I was delighted to find that it I slip into it with ease and just in time for the Spring Season.

I love how fluttery it is in the wind and how delicate and sheer the fabric is. I also love that even though it's a floral print it's not overly feminine because of the mute colors. As always, I'm not quite sure what I'm doing with my bangs. I'm forever in a state of growing out and then chopping them into bangs again. Maybe someday I'll pick a style and stick with it. I am settled on my Ombre' locks. This time around the ends turned out much more blonde than I anticipated but I actually like how edgy it is. Change is good and I'm learning to embrace it.

Spring is upon us and with that change comes. I'm also looking forward to some much needed Spring cleaning. I want to purge and get rid of some unwanted items that The Mister and I have been holding onto. I'm going to be clearing out a lot of my older clothes and donating them to charity and Good Will. It will be nice to say goodbye to them as it was a time in my life that I associate with not so happy memories. Isn't weird how a piece of clothing or an old trinket can bring back or hold so many memories? I suppose my spring cleaning and purging of my old wardrobe is cathartic.

I did manage to already get rid of a lot of clothing already earlier this year but there were still some items that I had to keep because I could not yet fit into my small clothes. However, that is not the case anymore and it's time to let them go. I was talking with my BFF Christopher the other day about how the last three years of my life changed me and that in a way I was sad because I feel like it was all a bad dream... like I was watching it on TV or something. I told him that I wish I could get those three years of my life back and I think Chris said it best when he replied that I wouldn't be who I am today if I didn't go through what I did. That I wouldn't be as strong of a person if I didn't experience so much pain. Chris was right... that the last three years I was a broken person but with that I learned so much about myself and continually pushed myself to be stronger and came out a better person because of it.

So with those thoughts... I have decided to let the past go and not dwell or harp on it any longer. It is what it is and I suppose I'm glad I went through it all and came out on top. This will be my last post about it all. I'm ready to put it behind me and move on and look forward to the future and everything that it holds for me. I'm so excited for this Summer full of fun in the sun and to take on more challenges for my little crochet business. I'm also looking forward to having a few house guests visit me from Ohio! More on that later. I have so much to be thankful for and I can't wait to share it with you all.

Flower power....

Whenever I see a field full of flowers two things pop into my head. Obviously the first thought would be that I must run through it (in a white cotton gauzy dress usually in slow motion) or lay in it and soak up the sun. I chose the latter option in this scenario. Are you ready for a bunch of obligatory images of me laying in a field full of flowers, because that's basically what this post is....

These are my absolute favorite wild flowers that pop up just about everywhere in Austin during Spring... this field happens to be in our front yard, which was very convenient for me. I think these flowers are wild poppy's but I'm not actually sure so if anyone knows please chime in.

I... like most people am a sucker for beautiful flowers. It makes my heart swell and my brain starts to get all tingly.

On this day, Le Husband and I had just got back from a beautiful day out in Manor, Texas. The weather was just phenomenal. I was wearing my new favorite pair of sunnies from Urban Izzy that are the perfect shade of pink. I was literally looking at the world through rose colored glasses. You may recognize this dress from my "Natural in Neutral" post.... well this may not be the last time you see it. It's pretty much my new favorite dress for the Spring season.
