Blog of The Month

Another fine blog...... Cake Spy

I was introduced to Cake Spy by one of my friends Trish Benford. I saw a little water color painting of her dog Gary with cupcakes in her home and just adored it. I thin got on to the website "Cake Spy" and feel in love with the creator Jessie Oleson. She is super talented and has managed to make a name for herself at such a young age. Checkout her awesome site for yourself.

She also sells other items for the kitchen.....

Oh and also yummy recipies!

I hope you enjoy her site as much as I do.

Peek-A-Boo

All my friends can tell you that I'm obsessed with socks and shoes. I don't know why or how to explain it. It started a few years ago... I usually wear dresses and or skirts with wedges. Maybe it started because I'm too lazy to paint my toe nails, whatever the reason it's cute and I'm sticking with it. Here are some examples of how to wear them. Take a look.

This is nice because it's all neutral colors and the pants are rolled slightly into a cuff which lets you see just a glimpse of socks.

Again the neutral colors are all working together and they are not pulled all the way up, they are slouchy in the right places.

More of a bold baby doll look. It can be sexy and innocent at the same time.

Pretty in pink.

glitzy

This look is my favorite.... love the shoes with or without socks.

Pretty and delicate.

Grey on Charcoal

I hope you enjoy socks and shoes as much as I do. Let me know what your thoughts are.

XOXO

Sublime Stiching

Sublime Stiching

I've been obssessed with Embroidery for a good 3 years now. I first fell in love with Embroidery when I was at a baby shower for Vickie Howell and there I met Jenny Hart. She was embroidering a bib for soon to be Clover.... Vickie and Dave's daughter. I always thought embroidery was something was labor intensive and time comsuming, something that old ladies do. I later stumbled onto her beautiful website Sublime Stiching and ordered a La Petite starter kit and was on my way.
You can also order many chic patterns from her site.
Here are a few that I have purchased:

There are also some amazing artists that create there patterns.... such as Ryan Berkley

There's also a book of simple patterns that she has put out as well.

I have some samples that I have done....most of them are on the walls around the house.... take a gander

I hope this inspires you to go out on your own and start some stitching

Drop me a line and tell me what you think.

XOXO Taylor

Why I love Austin

Why I love Austin.....

One of my first memories of Austin is South Congress with all the food, lights and music;
The cackle of the grackle and did I mention the food and music?

There is so much life in Austin.

The best stores to find that "one of a kind" piece. The girls dress so differently here... so effortless and care free.

A melting pot....

The quirky....

it's all so magical.

The places to go to grab some beer and listen to live music.

The vibe.

Authentic Margaritas.

a drop of lime.

and that completes a mi chilata.

fish tacos.

good food.

good times.

good places.

and the best people in the world.

That's what Austin is to me.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love Taylor   XOXOXO

First Thursday

So it's been awhile since I last posted.... I've been super busy crocheting and preparing for "First Thursday".
I worked my butt off to get my little crochet buddies ready and also getting everything organized for this one night. I was so nervous but my friend Joshua was there to help me load and unload. He had a set up for his Origami creations. Everything was going smooth until the rain came.... we had a tent so it was cool. We got a little wet but our product stayed dry. After the rain stopped we set up our tables and sat back and waited. People trickled in little by little. I think the foot traffic wasn't as much as it normally was because of the weather and the fact that it's February. It was still good though. I know now what sells and what doesn't. It's funny, the things that I thought wouldn't sell did.

I wanted to show the projects that have been keeping me away from blogging. Ready?

These are my crazy bunnies. Almost all my designs are crocheted in "rounds". I added the patched eye last minute. I gave him a heart because he is secretly sad and lonely. I think I made about 5 of these guys and only the red one sold.

These cupcake guys I've been making for a long time. They were the first pattern I learned how to make in "rounds". I still use the same initial pattern that I learned but I changed it up a bit. I added different icing and different toppings. I think they look yummy, don't you?

This cyclopes is one of my first patterns that I made up on my own. I know what you're thinking.....it seems pretty simple. It's actually hard to sit down and come up with patterns and fun ideas that work out together and isn't too labor intensive. This is what I came up with. Simple but cute.

I also work with felt too. I mainly use it for headbands, rings and hair clips. Felt is easy to work with and is inexpensive. I also show you how to make these rings in a tutorial.

This is the 2nd felt ring that I show how to make on this blog. It's super easy and fun to make.

These hats are made mostly for children but I did get a ton of requests from adults for Christmas. I've been know to wear a fox hat here and there.

This pattern I love...sadly I didn't design it. It's designed by Roxycraft
It was a free pattern that you can download from her website. She is really inspirational. I suggest you check out her blog http://tamiesnow.typepad.com/. She so creative.

These are my mouse heads. I actually mount heads on plaques. They are so cute that the Mister and I have 5 hanging in our living room. I make bears, foxes, wolves and mice.... in various colors of course. The small heads run 25$ to 30$. The large heads go from 30$ to 35$. I have more that I will post later.

These guys in the back are funny. These are flames. It's not the best picture but you get the idea. They are pointy at the top and come in 4 different sizes and colors. Red, Orange, Mustard and yellow. I wanted to make 3 logs to go with the fire but I didn't have enough time.

Monkey hats.... they are in the same pile as the fox hats. This is just a separate picture because these were the first kid hats I made. I have to say I like the fox hats better.

Meet Mr. Poop. He has a partner T.P. but I don't have a picture of him. They are Best Friends Forever.

Tea time! I love love love this necklace. I made this a long time ago for myself and now are selling them. I also make tea cup rings to go with them. That's the one thing I sold out of at First Thursday. I had no idea those would be so popular.

These are my hair clips. This picture doesn't do them justice. They are really awesome. They come in different shapes and sizes and in various color. I make headbands too and am actually going to be featured in a book called "Hat Shop" coming out this April. I'm not allowed to post pictures of it yet. I'm super excited about it because not only have I been published but they are listing my Etsy shop as well as my Blog. Oh boy!

I hope you enjoyed my post. I will try to keep you updated on all my events. Next event will be The Chili Cook off.

XOXO
