vintage clocks

Sometimes a girl needs a little break from the blogoshpere... in cases like these it's always nice to have a back up stash of random cute posts. I've collected my favorite images of vintage clocks
(I'm a sucker for that kinda stuff) and have compiled them all into one post.
Enjoy!

I'll be back soon with a lovely post about the ATX Summer Show that I attended this past weekend with my good buddy Christopher. Until then I'm going to enjoy the rest of my week.
Catch you later kittens!

Welcome to the Jungle...

Oh hey there! It's mid week and I'm feelin' the heat. No seriously, I'm feeling the heat because our a/c went out!! It couldn't be better timing either; the dead of Summer. Not only that but both our cars a/c units went out about the same time as well. Sheesh, what next?! I'm trying to remain cool as a cucumber though... I have way too much on my mind and too much to do these next two weeks to stress now.

Let's switch gears and talk about this lovely outfit and our amazing banana plants!! I love our backyard garden in the Summer, it's like a tropical paradise. Our banana plants are all over our backyard and we actually do get banana's... although they don't taste too good. It's really neat to see them grow though. This is the oldest skirt ever that I got at my ol' favorite thrift store. I managed to hang onto it all these years and now it fits better than ever! I've been really into black and white lately but thought with it being July and all I'd mix in a little pop of red.

It is crazy hot here in Austin and the humidity has been at an all time high! I've never felt this kind of weather before, to me it feels like the hottest Summer I've experienced so far since moving here. The Mister says that last year was technically hotter but the humidity is what's making it feel like ten times worse. It's hard trying to look cute while your makeup is literally melting off your face!

I love this new headband that I bought from "Little Minnow" at The Renegade this Spring and these white rimmed glasses from Forever 21 are pretty fun too. I just love playing with accessories.

In other news, I've been working out overtime to try to get more into shape. I want to push myself a little harder and was even thinking about lifting weights. I mean, I lift weights when I'm doing my Jillian Michael's 30 day shred video but have also been doing the 21 day arm challenge and really like the results I'm seeing already! I may set a new type of fitness goal for myself as a challenge and see if I can crush it! Ha ha!

So hopefully we can get someone out to fix our ac and everything will be peachy keen.
Hope every ones work week is going good. I've actually been way more productive than usual and I'm really surprising myself. Ha ha!

Shell Yeah!!

It's almost Friday y'all!! I'm so excited for this weekend for many reasons. The first is that this weekend we are actually supposed to have decent weather for a change! Yeah! We've been experiencing rainy, dreary conditions for the past week or more and it's really put me in a funk. The sun actually broke through the clouds for the first time today and I'm so happy! I need my vitamin D. Secondly, I get to spend some QT with my boo. Last weekend we had so much going on that we didn't really get to see each other at all except in passing by. Also, there is a new craft market that just opened up that a lot of my fellow crafters will be participating in and it just so happens to be at one of The Mister's and my favorite east side eateries.

It's called Ladybird Market hosted by Anne Marie Beard at the Cherrywood Cafe. I can't wait to eat some good food and check out all the awesome local artists. It should be a good time.
Can we take some time to check out this awesome little shell patterned dress that I'm rockin'?

I bought it from Hannah of The Braided Bandit and haven't taken it off since. It's soooo comfortable that I literally wear it all the time. Good thing I work from home and nobody really sees me. Ha! I just love the dusty pink color and the fact that it's a baggy baby doll dress is the most exciting part. It's a little nod to the early 90's vibe. It was cold this day so I wore a slouchy hat and a black over sized cardi but I also love to wear it with my new favorite motorcycle style black boots and faux leather jacket.
Oh yeah.... that's right! Since this mini photo session I lopped off a little more than 4 inches off my hair.... I really didn't want to but it was much needed. I hadn't trimmed my hair since I got the ombre' done last Summer. So off came 4 inches and I dyed it all one color again. I have a sneaky suspicion that the bottom will fade back into a lighter shade very quickly. My hair never holds any color for that long. If that happens I'll probably just fork over the money and get another ombre' since I was so happy with the first one. I do miss my long mermaid locks though.....

Speaking of Shells... Bae and I always collect shells whenever we are out and about in Port Aransas. Even if they are the not so glamorous ones like this one here, they are still beautiful to us. They are little memories/reminders of the time that we spent on the beach and it makes us happy to see them scattered around our yard and in our garden. We keep the extra special "pretty ones" and have them in our guest bedroom which is full of shells, arrowheads and fossils. Yup, that's how we roll.

So it was a "no brainer" when I saw this shell patterned baby doll dress in Hannah's Etsy shop. I'm all about buying from small businesses as well and supporting my fellow gal pals. If you're interested in seeing what's available in Hannah's Etsy shop hop on over to The Braided Bandit. She's got the most adorable two piece rompers right now!!

In other news my little diet/workout routine seems to be paying off! I've managed to loose 2 1/2 more lbs... which is a lot to me considering I'm such a shorty. I still have more to loose and will bust my butt to get to my goal. I want to be a hottie tottie this Summer and also I feel like I need to be back to where I was before I got sick three years ago. We shall see if anyone notice's the subtle changes in me. Ha ha!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.
Enjoy the weather and get some much needed Sun!

Rainy day wearing vintage....

Here it is in all it's glory.... the whole "rainy day wearing vintage" post. I just had to share it with all my fellow bloggers over here on Nothing but a Pigeon. This dress is too adorable... don't ya think? I borrowed this sweet little frock from Katie of Butterfly loves Snapdragons. I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to wear this awesome vintage find..... as you all know my love for little vintage dresses runs deep.

I also couldn't wait to show off my new white rimmed glasses I purchased from Mod Cloth! I adore them because they give off that mod sixties vibe that I love oh so much.

It's been unusually wet in Austin the past week. The sun has finally made it's way back out but we had a few good down pours before that happened. Now it's a whole lot cooler here in east Austin and it almost feels like Fall.... almost. Rain couldn't stop me from taking a few pictures, I even got to break out my polka dot umbrella... which I never get to use here.

I love it when it rains... the sound, the smell. We even got to see a few rainbows after the clouds cleared. There's something so magical about the rain. We really needed it here in Austin... we've been in a drought for the last seven years or so. Anything we can get really helps. It's also nice to get a break from watering the garden as well.

Of course my outfit wouldn't be complete without my white knee socks. I'm obsessed with knee socks if you couldn't tell. I wear them with everything... I might need an intervention one of these days.

I'm so glad that it's the middle of the work week. The Mister and I have had a lot on our plates lately. I have an unusual amount of orders I have to fill (which is good... don't get me wrong) and Matt has been working overtime at The Firm to get projects completed and out. We also had a little house guest this last weekend.... Lapu. Lapu is our friends and neighbors from up the streets Yorkie. He is tiny, sweet and seriously adorable. It was a lot of fun to watch him. You can check out how cute he is for yourself on my Instagram feed here. We are also in the middle of re-organizing The Studio in our backyard to make it more functional for my little crochet business... which by the way is blowing up. There is exciting things in the works going on right now. I also managed to get my little crochet critters into two new and very awesome stores. We are 1976 in Dallas and Wee, located here in Austin. Yay! This weekend will be full of assembling Ikea shelves and tables for our Studio. I can't wait to get everything situated.... more on that later. Hope everyone is having a great week.
