Mueller Farmer's Market

Sunday was Mueller's weekly Farmer's Market. The Mister and I decided to venture out to this one and take a look around since the weather decided to be nice this weekend. Yay for the Sun! It's been awhile since we've gotten to do anything fun just the two of us together. It seems like we're always running around on the weekend trying to get errands done. This weekend was really nice because we actually decided what we wanted to do and got to spend some quality time together which seems rare...

It was pretty busy this particular Sunday probably because of the weather and also sxsw is going on. We wanted to avoid the downtown area at all cost and I think everyone else in the neighborhood was thinking the exact same thing! I always adore Farmer's Markets and am all about supporting local small businesses and it also brings the community closer and is also great for the economy... don't even get me started!

We purchased some root vegetables and wandered down to a Mead booth where we promptly purchased a bottle and talked to the brewers. The Mister's one great joy in life (among others) is Mead and home brewing which he's determined to get into (which is fine by me). We sampled a bunch and decided to go with a carbonated Mead called "Frontier" which we cracked open that night and devoured. It was indeed delicious!

Here are some of the sweet wine Mead's that we sampled. I was really keen on the "Wildfire" Mead.

If you save your bottle (which is gorgeous btw) them refills are only $10.

For more info n these delightful Mead's check out Meridian Hive Meadery.

Johnson's Backyard Garden is seriously everywhere now! Which I'm super happy about... there quality cannot be beet! Did you see what I just did there? Cannot be beet. Ha ha! Seriously though....

I'm all about there awesome website which is full of recipe's info about veggies and so much more. They also have a weekly CSA box that you can sign up for. I'm about to talk the Mister into signing up for this Spring!

Last but not least is Lauren's Bloody Mary Mix. The Husbear and myself included are obsessed with a good Bloody Mary mix. We stopped by this fine booth and sampled the Habanero mix and of course had to purchase a bottle to take home.... which the Mister drank right away. Ha ha!
There were so many other delicious and interesting booths that we didn't get a chance to visit some because the temptation was too much and we are technically still counting our calorie's. I can't wait till the weather gets even better and we can explore more next time... stay tuned because I have a new craft market that just opened up called "Ladybird Market" created and hosted  by Anne Marie Beard at one of my favorite east side eateries Cherrywood Coffee House.

Shell Yeah!!

It's almost Friday y'all!! I'm so excited for this weekend for many reasons. The first is that this weekend we are actually supposed to have decent weather for a change! Yeah! We've been experiencing rainy, dreary conditions for the past week or more and it's really put me in a funk. The sun actually broke through the clouds for the first time today and I'm so happy! I need my vitamin D. Secondly, I get to spend some QT with my boo. Last weekend we had so much going on that we didn't really get to see each other at all except in passing by. Also, there is a new craft market that just opened up that a lot of my fellow crafters will be participating in and it just so happens to be at one of The Mister's and my favorite east side eateries.

It's called Ladybird Market hosted by Anne Marie Beard at the Cherrywood Cafe. I can't wait to eat some good food and check out all the awesome local artists. It should be a good time.
Can we take some time to check out this awesome little shell patterned dress that I'm rockin'?

I bought it from Hannah of The Braided Bandit and haven't taken it off since. It's soooo comfortable that I literally wear it all the time. Good thing I work from home and nobody really sees me. Ha! I just love the dusty pink color and the fact that it's a baggy baby doll dress is the most exciting part. It's a little nod to the early 90's vibe. It was cold this day so I wore a slouchy hat and a black over sized cardi but I also love to wear it with my new favorite motorcycle style black boots and faux leather jacket.
Oh yeah.... that's right! Since this mini photo session I lopped off a little more than 4 inches off my hair.... I really didn't want to but it was much needed. I hadn't trimmed my hair since I got the ombre' done last Summer. So off came 4 inches and I dyed it all one color again. I have a sneaky suspicion that the bottom will fade back into a lighter shade very quickly. My hair never holds any color for that long. If that happens I'll probably just fork over the money and get another ombre' since I was so happy with the first one. I do miss my long mermaid locks though.....

Speaking of Shells... Bae and I always collect shells whenever we are out and about in Port Aransas. Even if they are the not so glamorous ones like this one here, they are still beautiful to us. They are little memories/reminders of the time that we spent on the beach and it makes us happy to see them scattered around our yard and in our garden. We keep the extra special "pretty ones" and have them in our guest bedroom which is full of shells, arrowheads and fossils. Yup, that's how we roll.

So it was a "no brainer" when I saw this shell patterned baby doll dress in Hannah's Etsy shop. I'm all about buying from small businesses as well and supporting my fellow gal pals. If you're interested in seeing what's available in Hannah's Etsy shop hop on over to The Braided Bandit. She's got the most adorable two piece rompers right now!!

In other news my little diet/workout routine seems to be paying off! I've managed to loose 2 1/2 more lbs... which is a lot to me considering I'm such a shorty. I still have more to loose and will bust my butt to get to my goal. I want to be a hottie tottie this Summer and also I feel like I need to be back to where I was before I got sick three years ago. We shall see if anyone notice's the subtle changes in me. Ha ha!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.
Enjoy the weather and get some much needed Sun!

Austin Flea at The Highball

Hey there kitten's. I'm pleased to announce that I'll be selling my little precious crochet taxidermy March 29th 11:00am -5:00pm at The Highball in Austin! It's good, clean fun for the whole family. It's just so appropriate that the graphics for this month's show happens to be a pigeon... am I not correct? "You ain't nothing but a pigeon gurrrrl."

My cold black heart

It's Monday kittens! Hope everyone had a splendid weekend. I caught up on some much needed crocheting for the ol' business. I'm literally crocheting my little hands off in preparation for some very fun upcoming shows that I've applied to. Eeeeeep! 2015 is going to be a great year indeed. I have a little show with Austin Flea coming up at the end of this month and then SXSW is coming up soon as well... so I have to make sure all my stores are well stocked. I can't believe how many people come to Austin for films, and music! It's truly amazing! I myself try to avoid the downtown area during those two weeks at all cost.

I'm really excited for this Spring! Not only because the weather will be getting better but I'll be traveling with some dear, crafty friends of mine to Dallas and to Arkansas for those delightful shows I was just talking about. I really want to push myself this year to achieve all my goals. I'm going to be "living outside my comfort zone" on a daily basis but if that's what I need to do to make my dreams come true than I intend to do it!

I've also been trying to really push myself to get more into shape as well... which means slashing my caloric intake by about half and working out every single day. I've plateaued and need to make some adjustments in order to shed a few more pounds. It's really hard and I'm always hungry but I think I'm finally over the first week hump. I've been replacing snacking with water which is good. I have to say, I really don't enjoy eating or food anymore because I know I can't really indulge in anything but when I see the results I want it will all be worth it in the end. I remember this is how I felt when I first got on Weight Watchers... I was miserable the whole time but at least I was happy with my body. Don't get me wrong.... I'm not starving myself. I'm just not eating as much as I would like to. Ha! The things I miss the most are sushi, spaghetti and red wine.

In other news... I've been on Pinterest a lot lately. I love Pinterest but sometimes it's unhealthy for me to be on there all the time. I love it because it's so inspiring to see all the beautiful imagery but then I start comparing myself to other people's looks, style and lives, talent and that's bad. They say "Comparison is the thief of Joy" and I believe that to be true. There are so many different types of social media now with Pinterest, facebook, twitter, Instagram etc.... that it over flows and over stimulates us. It used to be that "back in the day" there was only one pretty girl in a village that you would compare yourself to... now there's thousands of images and pretty faces that we see everyday that it's almost unhealthy. Does that make sense? I try not to look at other people and compare my life to theirs for I am in a different place in life emotionally and financially than them. It's really that "age old lesson" that everyone... including me has to try to remember not to do.

So, I must remember to love myself more and give myself some credit. I've accomplished a lot in the past year or so. I've grown so much as a person, business owner, wife, sister and friend and I have to remember all the steps that I've taken to get to where I am now. Loving myself has been the hardest lesson for me as well as self doubt and acceptance. It's something that I'm always going to struggle with but I've come a long way from where I was and I have to keep reminding myself of that. It's been a bitter sweet journey and it's not over yet. This year will be even better than last year!

The little red Lady tie...

Happy Monday! Is it really Monday already....ugh. I didn't want this weekend to end. I celebrated my 34th Birthday with the Mister Saturday, we went to The Natural History Museum for a few hours (we hadn't been there in a few years) and then went to my new favorite Sushi restaurant Piranha Sushi downtown. Later we got our party on with some very fun friends up the street and unfortunately made the mistake of drinking on an empty stomach which led to feeling all sicky poo Sunday. I haven't done that in such a long time... I forgot how horrible it is to feel hung over. Icky!

Every time I drink too much I get mad at myself for not keeping myself "in check". It's all good though... I think after Saturday night it's going to be a looooong time before I take another sip again! It was fun to let loose just for one night though....

I finally got a chance to wear my little red "lady tie" made by the fabulous Christine of "flapper girl". I'm actually not quite sure if Christine is making these little gems anymore, so I'm super glad that I got a chance to buy one while I could. I've been eyeing them like forever and finally broke down and bought one... they are so worth it! They add that extra something to one's outfit. I went for a classic red color. I figured it would go with almost everything I own and I was right.

I recently went to get my hair trimmed and shaped back up because it had literally been almost a year since I've dyed the ends and things were starting to look pretty gnarly at the bottom. So I go in to get a trim and the hair dresser (bless her heart) took off a little more than 4 inches. I was a tad bit shocked... thank Gawd I'm not one of those people that freak out easily about such things but damn! So my ombre' isn't as noticeable as it once was and my hair is just a tad longer than my shoulders when curled at the bottom. Shocker! So.... I'm still getting used to it. I also broke down and got bangs again. I've had bangs for years and every time I try to grow them out I end up just chopping them.

I took these images when the weather was actually nice in Austin... now it's rainy and cold. I'm so ready for Spring and Summer to arrive. I feel like I've been cooped up in our little house all Winter! It could be worse I suppose... we could still be living in Ohio and be experiencing horrible blizzards right about now. I would not be able to handle that for sure, I've grown accustomed to the mild Texas Winters now.

Well it's officially March 1st so Spring should be right around the corner for us... hopefully it won't be too wet. We do however need the rain here, we've been in a drought for about 7 or 8 years so I guess it would be a blessing to get our Lake levels back up to where they once were. It makes the Summer's more enjoyable too to have a decent watering hole to swim in. Texas has many hidden watering holes to jump into and I'm really looking forward to eventually visiting each and every one of them. My favorite chill spot is The Blue Hole in Georgetown. Now that my BFF and her Husbear have moved to Georgetown we have a great excuse to go there like all the time... it's the perfect spot to just float.

Whoosh!

As you can see I was getting quite the breeze blowing my little skirt up during this photo shoot. I couldn't help but smile and laugh.

I hope everyone had a fun filled weekend as I did! I can't wait to break out these Spring and Summer clothes that I've been holding on to all Winter... I also can't wait to see all my favorite blogger friends Spring trends. Eeeeep!
