Blog of The Month

It's that time again gang! I'm so excited to share my next Blog with you! I fell in love with Oh So Lovely Vintage the second I saw the adorable duo Erin Thiessen and Stefanie Hiebert. They not only have a really neato blog but also own a vintage boutique together called Rhymes With Orange. There's more! They also have a mobile shop that they run out of a renovated 1956 camper traier!!! Eeeek! I'm in love with caravans... if you didn't already know. Get this..... they named their camper Olive!! Can this get any better? Yes it can! Check out their FAQ page for more deets.

Aren't Stef and Erin just darling? Looking good in vintage frocks and B.A.I.T. shoes!

I can't tell you how inspirational these little QT's are. I just love their DIY's..... they are very crafty indeed.
Here are a couple of my all time favorites.

They also have a passion for Mid Century Architecture. I get so giddy looking at these pictures! I have so many ideas swirling around in my head... I can't contain myself! The Mister and I live in a Modern Design  house in a tiny green community in east Austin. We just love it! Our home is actually painted turquoise and brown with a hint of bright orange.

Atomic Ranches

I also get all tingly inside when I see their home decor. These girls have a knack for decorating.
The Mister and I have been talking about adding some Mid Century accents to our home. We are collecting pieces here and there. Erin and Stef's ideas are so inspirational.... here is just a glimpse of some of  ideas they have found.

Trip to The Dallas Aquarium

So a few weekends ago The Mister and I took a weekend a trip to Dallas to visit some college friends.
We originally had to make the trip to pick up a HVAC system for our Studio that Matt has been finishing up in our backyard.... which by the way is AWESOME! That's a whole other blog post though. So after we found out that we would have to make an unexpected trip to pick up the HVAC system we called up our friends and decided to make a weekend out of it! We were all so excited because we have never seen their place before. Our buddies Laura and Aaron have two young daughters Miriam and Julia that are just adorable. We decided to bring Lucy to play with their two huge Great Pyrenees. It was really funny to watch them interact together. Lucy is small but she pretty much ran the roost.

The first night we hung out and drank some Milk Stout brewed by left hand brewing company that was pretty tasty.

We also watched "Silver Linings Playbook" which made me quite nervous.... I'm not going to spoil it for anyone so don't worry. Basically the synopsis goes like this:
After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano (played by Bradley Cooper) moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany (played by Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own.
Now I LOVE Jennifer Lawrence soooo much but I wouldn't go as far as to say her character was "mysterious". It was more like "annoying". I'm so sorry Jennifer!!! It's not your fault. Kudos on winning an Oscar though... you really are a great actress. Here's the trailor....

On the second day The Mister and I took off to The Dallas Aquarium. It was packed with kids galore... which kinda made it hard for us to enjoy everything but we toughed it out and saw some amazing fish. Not only were there fish but also a tons of exotic birds and little tinnie weenie Marmosets!

"Marmoset they'll be Days like This"

We also saw a lot of Sea Horses (which I love)... I could watch them float around all day. They are just the most beautiful creatures I think I've ever seen. Here's some Instagrams:

Here is a type of Toucan. They were able to fly free so you could literally walk right up to them.

Here is a GIANT crab. I feel so bad now that I love crab legs. After seeing these guys I don't think I'll be going to Red Lobster anytime soon. They were so peaceful.

Aren't sea horses just magical? There were so many different types. Here's just a few. I actually got to see two sea horse's mating. Did you know that male sea horses not only carry the eggs but also deliver the baby sea horses?

Check out these guys!! Do you see their little snouts and eyes?

There are two different varieties of sea horses here. They both resemble sea kelp.

After the Aquarium The Mister and I took a horse and buggy tour of The West End Historic District where we trotted through Dealey Plaza where John F. Kennedy was assassinated. We past by the Grassy Knoll and the Texas School Book Depository Building which was surprisingly small! Actually the whole stretch of Elm Street, Main Street and Commerce Street was way smaller than what the videos and pictures make it out to be. My Dad would be so proud of me. I snapped pictures of it all but there was so much construction going on at the time. It was a very good weekend full of friends, great food and good drinks. I can't wait to go back to see the Dallas Museum of Art and The Dallas Zoo! This time we will be going during the work week so it won't be so crowded.

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain

If you ask me what my all time favorite movie is... I would surely say Amelie. Ever since I saw the movie in the theater I was carried away to some magical cross processed dream. I instantly fell in love with Amelie's innocent and naive character played by the beautiful Audrey Tautou. Throughout the movie Amelie helps others find happiness and also finds love along the way. The cast is full of amazing supporting characters including the very handsome Mathieu Kassovitz who plays Amelie's love interest Nino Quincampoix. Here's some interesting  little known facts... Director  Jean-Pierre Jeunet always casts Dominique Pinon in all his movies. He likes to cast actors with unusual facial features, often uses wide camera angles and his main characters are often orphans or have lost their parents. The "crossed processed" feel and look is due to extensive use of color grading in order to give his movies the desired (often fantastic) ambiance. The closing credits of his movies show images of every actor from the movie.

I have searched high and low and found a bunch of glorious images and artwork and links to look at. Pre pare yourself for what you are about to see. This is a long post, but it's mostly visual.. so you'll be okay.

We pass the time of day to forget how time passes.

Paper Heart

On September 3rd 1973, at 6:28pm and 32 seconds, a bluebottle fly capable of 14,670 wing beats a minute landed on Rue St Vincent, Montmartre. At the same moment, on a restaurant terrace nearby, the wind magically made two glasses dance unseen on a tablecloth. Meanwhile, in a 5th-floor flat, 28 Avenue Trudaine, Paris 9, returning from his best friend's funeral, Eugène Colère erased his name from his address book. At the same moment, a sperm with one X chromosome, belonging to Raphaël Poulain, made a dash for an egg in his wife Amandine. Nine months later, Amélie Poulain was born.

September 28th, 1997. It is exactly 11am. At the funfair, near the ghost train, the marshmallow twister is twisting. Meanwhile, on a bench in Villette Square, Félix Lerbier learns there are more links in his brain than atoms in the universe. Meanwhile, at the Sacré Coeur, the nuns are practising their backhand. The temperature is 24°C, humidity 70%, atmospheric pressure 990 millibars.

With a prompter in every cellar window whispering comebacks, shy people would have the last laugh.
