The beach

Happy Monday everyone! As promised I have a lot to post about. I'm so excited to share with ya'll my beach adventure. As you may or may not know the Mister and I love to escape the city and go to the coast every so often. We love to camp and frolic at Mustang Island.... it's just a little over a four hour drive from Austin which isn't bad at all, but far enough to make it feel like you in a tropical paradise. We have been here a handful of times and now it's a tradition. I love creating our own little family tradition's.... do you?

The Mister has dear friends that let us stay at their beach house every so often. We were actually planning on camping this go around but it turns out that the house was empty and was graciously offered to us to use. It worked out perfectly because Lucy has been really sore lately. She's getting older and her hips hurt her.... she's been jumping off the bed and couch when she shouldn't be and it's caused her major pain. So we took her to the vet and they prescribed her little puppy pain medication and a small dose of steroids. It was convenient because camping with a sore pup isn't a very good idea.

It rained the first night we were there but it was actually pleasant because we got in from the drive around 8pm or so. So we unpacked and watched a movie as we cuddled and shared some wine. It's funny.... it's actually nice to just stay in sometimes and not do anything at all.

The next day was partly cloudy with pockets of sunlight every so often. We set up our huge 10x10 tent that we actually bought for the purpose of me to use as a vendor.... but it is nice to use at the beach as well. Bonus! We set up our chairs and chilled for the good half of the day. The Mister had packed some adult beverages ans some lunchables so we were all set.

Lucy seemed to be doing well and had a great time chasing seagulls and digging in the sand. She loves to explore her surroundings.

There was a huge tree that had washed ashore with all sorts of barnacles and muscles attached to it. The gulls had a field day pecking at the shells trying to get a little tasty treat.

Wow! The sun sure does take it out of you. Nap time is always welcome on the beach.... especially for tiny, precious pups.

We saw so many variety of birds this time around. We think some were migrating so it brought them to Mustang Island for the time. It was really cool to see 3 different types of sand pipers and various types of seagulls and pelicans. There were also many types of herring too! As always, every time we visit we see dolphins. No jellyfish this time.

These are the wind turbines that we always drive by on the way home. They are awesomely huge. All in all it was a great trip even though the weather was a little spoty. Like every trip we didn't want to leave but then when we got on the road we couldn't wait to get home and sleep in our own bed. I really wish we could visit Mustang Island more often but we have a garden and two crazy chicks that we are raising right now so we can't be as adventurous as we would like to be at times. But I love coming home and tending to our plants and watching the chicks grow up and do wacky things. Which reminds me the Mister is finishing up the coop for our new farm family so I will be sharing some photos of the finished product as well as our garden that is full of herbs and veggies! I can't wait. I hope everyone is having a fun Spring.

xoxo
